The Ventura River Watershed is a coastal watershed located in the northwestern portion of Ventura County. The watershed covers 228 square miles roughly half of which is on Forest Service land (USFS, 1997).

The Ventura River has several major tributaries including Matilija, North Fork Matilija, San Antonio and Canada Larga. Lake Casitas serves as the primary water supply for the area within the Watershed. The Rincon and Hall/Arundell Watersheds are grouped together with the Ventura River Watershed.
